Diam Rek was founded by wheelchair users whose own lived experience of disability, combined with firsthand experience meeting disabled people in West Africa, highlighted the urgent lack of appropriate mobility support in rural communities. This lived experience continues to shape the charity’s values, design and delivery approach. Diam Rek is a UK registered charity working to transform access to mobility devices and behaviours and stigmas towards people of disability in Senegal and The Gambia.
